Finally a story you can wrap your arms around! If we could see more stories like this I think it would bring out the best in all of us, rather than the beasts that have been lurking around every news team. Enjoy!
These are difficult times. Standing up for yourself in a country that runs on money & politics is almost impossible for the hard working middle class. But we must fight to stay on top of it. I don't know how best to do it, so I'll try the only way I know how....by spreading the word.

McCain is INSANE
I think he may have alzheimer's and his staff and advisors are covering for him. He makes no sense to even his own party. He is cancelling the most important debate of the season to go to Washington and do????? NOTHING. He is not on any of the committees enlisted to solve the problem. He is a self confessed ignorant in economics and policy. Even though the debate was to be on Foreign Policy, a subject he claims to OWN, he cancelled. Well, at least he is cognizant (or one of his advisors is) that there is no way the topics won't be steered toward the CRISIS. He can't compete, therefore he WON'T play.
added little table scrap: SARAH PALIN DOES THE UN!!! Yep, she did it, she flirted, gave up alittle knee, patted, winked, and giggled for the foreign dignitaries. Photographers there have already started blogging about HOW WELL she worked the all male crowd....like a Hooter's recruit. Sigh, it's gonna be a long month, watching as she drags women deeper into the sexist hole. AW WTF....maybe we should stay home and raise kids, and then run for mayor....

John McCain = Keating 5
Counting on the impossibly short memory of the American public must be paying off. Johnny has no ethics, and check out the number of lobbyist in his advisory staff. CROOK, CROOK, CROOK!!! I REMEMBER THE SAVINGS AND LOANS SCANDAL...

Bail ME OUT!!!
I am sorry, but absolutely NONE of what the government is planning makes any sense to me at all. The fact that BOTH candidates are even considering this bailout scares the hell out of me. We can't afford to do this. We are too unstable to support this kind of manipulation. We need to be vocal like we have never been before. STOP THIS madness, before we are thrown into the worst crisis in history next to the fall of Rome.

Reality as it appears Today
Just when I was dustin off the passports, thinking well, honey, where will we move to... I stumbled upon this video. The Cleese/Palin ticket would be spot on about now....It has a way of making American Politics make much better sense. I think we all need to be reminded of this at times. Enjoy, as if it is therapy, I say. Then listen again to Ron Paul and Ralph Nader with Blitzer. It helps. I promise. Plus, check out Mr. Palin's glasses....very chic as well I think.

Hold my Horses...
I was getting a little sick of hearing how McCain is ahead, then hearing how Obama may be misleading us...and I started googling, and yahooing and even BBCing, and then got so tired of it I just signed off. I thought, I don't like any of this media melodrama bull. I HATE IT. I'm a democrat by birth, and have so much compassion for those less fortunate than me, BECAUSE I am so grateful to be and to have what I have....and I watch this bologna and feel somehow cheated. Just as I was thinking, TORONTO sounds interesting...I ran across this video. It reminded me why I was so enthusiastic in the first place. It reminded me about where the real issues and the real American's really are! They are believing the same things that I do, and these men do. THEY ARE being romanced by the media, like a great but cheesy soap opera. Watch and enjoy, and rejoin the fight. IF THESE GREAT MEN, CAN STAY THE COURSE, so must we all.

Look at that Scrotum!

This is the downtown of Wasilla, Alaska, where your potential Vice President was two short years ago. Population 5500.
You gotta hand it to them, that Grand Old Party, they got Big BALLS! I am almost dizzy with the amount of new "crap" that is coming out about the VP pick. What the hell is going on here...have they focus grouped and decided that if they make politics look more like soap operas, they'll secure their viewership? I think Karl Rove is lurking.... OK, be that as it may these still are facts:
1. Sarah Palin smoked pot, (but GOP says, you can't ask her about it...what?)
2. She was named in a divorce suit for having an affair with one of the petitioners. (off limits.)
3. Palin is currently in the middle of a controversial gas pipeline project in Alaska. She’s favored the ‘Trans Canada’ proposal that will run the pipeline through Canada, in effect shipping US jobs over the border...(Alaska problems are not really on the agenda.)
4. She is also suing the federal government over listing the polar bears as a threatened species. (well come on, someone in Alaska needs to eat those guys.)
5. Sarah Palin is currently under an ethics investigation by the Alaska state legislature. (after only 20 months in the office, stop it.)
Somewhere in my mind I'm thinking I just can't have my children idolize this idiot. I KNOW SHE IS THE FIRST WOMAN VP ON THE TICKET. But she didn't earn it. She's a token girl being tossed out to lure the hungry voters. Sad and silly, and we're letting them by with it. I think not!

Sarah Palin is Pitiful
I am always amazed at the brilliance of John Stewart. He gets things, that just fly right past the most of us. Keep the faith, the republicans can't keep pulling their cowboy hats over their eyes... They'll have to peek out at some point. Enjoy!

Feeling American??
I got another email, touting the rights' extreme hate for the left. This after I'd read all the blogs under the GOP convention coverage. I sat pondering the horrible divide in this country, then googled american's leaving the USA. I don't really think Panama is for me. Although I love the familycentric cultures of Latin America.
Then I gazed out my windows into my green beautiful front yard, and recalled an article I'd read last night about a Darfur Lady doctor, Halima Bashir, that was tortured, and gang raped, because she reported to a red cross investigator about treating children who were victims of gang rapes at a primary school. She escaped and is trying to get to the US to speak out against the horrors of Darfur. I'm sitting here thinking of leaving because republican, democratic, and us media coverage makes me irritable. What a baby, right??
I suppose that I should stick my O sign out in the pretty yard, and just wait for November. Stop worrying about it, and wondering "what if" we continue along the path we are on now? What happens if inflation keeps rising and my retired teacher mom can't afford to live on her own anymore? She's only 5 years older than McCain, but she didn't marry a millionaire. She is the widow of another teacher...RIP.
No, I hate all the "hate" filled speeches and emails and blogs. It should not be this difficult to decide who will run this country. But I guess we really have gotten too big to be governed efficiently, when we can't even decide reasonably who should do it.
I will pray that God shines a light down upon all of us so that we choose rather than be schmoozed. That the veil of hype and spin for better ratings is suspended in time and the truth of the state of our world spills out. I will pray that God have mercy on the souless bottom feeders, that really don't care about themselves, much less any one else. That for a few moments we will receive GOD colored glasses that don't see color, status, gender, or religious preferences, only the beating hearts, and restless souls of those around us. Wow, I'm sounding almost religious!
I need to stop watching the campaign and blogging on the net for awhile. I must be suffering burn out. HA HA HA HA. Just kidding, I'm gettin on my scooter and buzzing over to the DNC headquaters, getting my sign and volunteering to work! Had you going for a second though, didn't I? I'm still a BOBBING AMERICAN!!!

?que SARAH SARAH!
Well why the hell am I surprised that the republicans are again showing their repugnancy? Sarah Palin. When I googled her the day after the announcement I found governors office photo shots with her on her couch draped with a grizzly bear skin. Well, I thought, ISN'T THIS PLEASANT. Then I read on about her unwillingness to even acknowledge the Polar Bear crisis...and I thought, hmmm, I bet she drives an Escalade!! She does. Of course she has actual children to put into it, and that is good. She claims actions in Alaska that just aren't substantiated, and the media keeps buying it. The latest episode in the ongoing Palin saga is the 17 year old pregnant daughter...oh brother. This is the child Sarah kept home 8 months last year for mononucleosis, then suprise, Mommy had a baby...that clings to the 17 year old suspiciously.... Well here's a wake up call Sarah Palin...
Normal Mommy's would never drag their troubled 17 year old children into the national spotlight. Good mom's would put the careers on HOLD while they deal with their crisis personally.
This lady is a pretty big fraud. Shame on John McCain for thinking so little of the American public as to run her.

What the Democrats AREN'T saying...
OK, unity is great. Let's get together, yeah yeah yeah.... And it is so good to know the Obama story as told by the Missus. What a fantastic speech that was! But I want to know why the dems aren't asking:
What about the torture?
What about the undisclosed logs Cheney refuses to give to the officials?
What about the Military incompetence running rampant in the Airforce & Army?
How about the problems with our FDA uninspected contaminated food supply?
What about the media, promoting Ann Coulter who publicly calls our former president a homosexual, and nobody sues her for defamation of character?
What about the congressional reform that will stop anyone employed in the congressional offices from taking a job with a lobbying group?
Hey, how about not allowing a person employed by any Federal oversight commission such as FDA, USDA, EPA to have been on the payroll of conflicting interests, such as US Cattlemens Assoc, or Agribusinesses, or the Pharmaceutical companies?
How are we going to secure our ports?
How will we get the profiteering mortgage giants off of the US GOVERNMENT TEET?
Are these questions getting any airtime? Why not?

Michelle Obama is MONEY BABY!
Holy cow, what a girl. If you didn't have an opinion one way or another about this girl, you do after her DNC speech. She did what no woman has done, (well with Ann Richards a close second...) ever. She was articulate, real, heartfelt, and graceful. I never once felt like I was being preached to by a "black woman" or a "Harvard Law student". I really did feel like she was being herself, a mom, a wife, a hard earned career girl, with a loving mother to nanny her girls while she did it. What a beautiful speech. I was moved by it, and I KNOW a lot of other people watching were as well. I think for the first time that I can remember Chris Matthews actually humbled himself in her wake.
WAY TO GO MICHELLE. You've given the Clinton's a fine act to have to follow. I hope they can rise to the task and drive this game into overtime.

McCain just can't WIN!!
I just had to post this beauty. It really does sum up the way that I have felt about this senator all along. This just puts the proof BACK into the puddin. Go O!
Well Mitt loves Barack!
If John McCain runs Mitt Romney as his VP, I hope all of my blogfriends post this little blip OVER AND OVER AND OVER....until Bill O'Rielly himself shows up at their doors with a baseball bat. I'm running it front and center. Gotta love it!
Excepting the Lies
If, like me, you have come to recognize the inflammatory and derogatory nature of Fox, then are you also confused about WHY we allow them airtime? I am consistently amazed and appalled when I see clips from their antics on youtube.com. Trust me when I say that I would rather roll in cow dung before I actually tuned FOX in on the TV. But still, I just don't get it. The preponderance of propaganda, all backed if not initiated by the highest levels of a corrupt government. WOW, I remember the stories from my childhood about the Kremlin and the KGB. How I never really could understand why the smart Russians didn't do something about it....thinking that there really must be a bunch of dummies in the USSR. And now I sit here in complete stupification, watching it happen, unable to stop it, warring with myself over just how dumb an American I really am. So now, in my lame attempt to ease the self respect of my inner child, I must sincerely apologize to all of the Russians, smart and stupid alike, for years of disrespect and contempt.
That done, I am still contemplating the best way to adjust to the misinformation that has become the standard for our once stunningly adept debate machine, the US Media. I suppose I should become an activist in defense of the Internet...the only information source left, where you can find the truth if you LOOK for it. I have found a promising resource in The American News Project.
http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1463341016/bctid1733162920 I will continue to pass the word, and hope that someone, somewhere can put together a plan to recover our unbiased or at least evenly distributed sources for REAL information.

Obama will prevail
I don't care how many obscure pollsters print a McCain lead. OBAMA will prevail. The media is doing EVERYTHING it possibly can to make this look like a close race. IT IS NOT. The media is pulling out the stops to portray Obama as vague and shallow and unvetted. I'm sorry, but I'm not buying it.
I remember him taking the stage at the DNC, and I was mesmerized. He was humble and confident at the same time. He was sincere and affable. We loved him then, and he is not one bit different today. He has been vetted through life experiences followed by an abundance of wise choices. He has always been well received in his community, his state and our congress. The press can spin until they fall down, but we must always remember that WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW. Barack Obama is an opportunity for "something completely different." He will become the president. And we can all be proud to have been a part in seeing this done.
DON'T buy anything that you know in your gut is NOT TRUE. Put your signs out into your yards, and KNOW, he will be our champion.

My State of the Union Address
My fellow Americans, greetings. I would like to point out some important truths that we must not ignore. Here is the State of the Country as I see it. We have thumbed our noses at the models that govern the rest of the world. We all watched with fascination, as our housing market ballooned like Jabba the Hut 6-7 years ago. We nodded approval at the lenders offering sub prime loans to people who would ordinarily NOT be able to afford a home. We smirked when our leader smirked at sending brigade after brigade to bring down a dictatorship that violated OUR mandates. We bought, hook-line-and sinker, the tales of terror and weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION, even though the rest of the world was urging us to stand down. We chose to accept that Abu Graib prisoners were treated no more harshly than fraternity pledges from one of our State Colleges, despite the fact that pleas were resounding around the world in horror and outrage at our lack of understanding and compassion. We were indignant when they struck back and beheaded one of our journalists, crying out at their brutality.
We sat complacently watching as the 9/11 commission was denied testimony from the Whitehouse staffers. We thought little more about the intentional sabotage of one of our own spies, then did less when Scooter Libby was let off the hook. We stood before our televisions for days, stupefied at the MASS DESTRUCTION in New Orleans that we neither had the management nor the armed reserves to deal with humanely. We worry terribly about salmonella tomatoes, diseased meat we served to thousands of school children, Ecoli in lettuce and spinach, vaccines containing mercury or tainted bovine resin, and drug contaminated water supplies, but never once DEMAND to know why the USDA and FDA and the CDC all failed us (but still got paid.)
While the oil companies are making billions of profits at our expense TODAY, we are still granting them tax breaks on these profits, and offering to let them drill everywhere they want. While the CEOs of the sub prime lending companies were buying Mexican Retirement Villas, their market was shuttering under the strain of rising foreclosures. We watched in confusion as the Whitehouse offered a stimulus package to ease our financial pain. . . and then scratched our heads as they offered to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac the largest corporations on our markets. We were told this will help patch our leaking economy. I'm still pondering the DRILL MORE oil petitions that the Whitehouse feels are our only hope to stop the unbearable price increases, while these same oil companies sit on all the patents for alternative fuel sources and supplies. And all of us are still sitting here wondering where this is all heading. OK, I'm not really wondering now. I KNOW where this is heading. BAD DECISIONS, AFTER BAD DECISIONS, will rarely produce a good outcome.
Our government has role modeled bad policy, no integrity, and no accountability for 7 years. It continues rewarding companies that share this lack of character and shortsightedness. I think I can say with confidence that GEORGE W. BUSH, single handedly destroyed this country, to the likes of which we just barely experiencing now. IT WILL GET MUCH WORSE. And the best of politicians will not be able to stop this nasty boulder from rolling down the hill.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Now, is the time to stop using fossil fuels in your homes. Start now, turning off your A/C units, retire the SUVs and park the cars in the garage. Fire the lawn service and start planting fruit trees and orchards in your front yards. Unplug everything that isn't necessary. Downsize to one TV, one PC and one stereo. Open your windows, and listen to the sound of less cars on the road and kids in the yards. Our consumption of oil now must stop, so that we will have enough oil left to convert our nation to NON Fossil fueled economy. But I think more than this our complacency about why are country is such dire straits must end here too. We need to DEMAND and Protest, boycott and SCREAM that our Congress fight to get back OUR HUMAN RIGHTS. The right to have access to affordable food, shelter, and fuel, necessary FOR SURVIVAL. We need to confiscate and sell all the assets of the criminal corporate thugs that profiteered at the price of our soldiers, and our communities. DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN SCRATCH YOU ASSES AND NOD at the television, that refuses to report NEWS.
I have had my A/C off for over a week now. I live in San Antonio, Texas. My children were miserable for 3 days, then strangely they stopped complaining. In fact, they came in from the pool yesterday and complained that it was cold. We run our unit now from 8 pm to 6 am and it is set at 78 during these times. I haven't run my Van in 2 days. My daughters and I are riding bicycles to the store. We each have baskets. I also just harvested 2 cantaloupes from my garden in the dismal area that sprawls behind everyone's detached garages. Yes, homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, spinach, okra, green beans, and strawberries do taste better than store bought. If everyone tries what we are DOING, we will change the demand side of the supply issue, slow the rising cost and buy the time we need to change our fuel supply forever.
Good night, and God Bless.

Phil Gramm's Epitaph
Thank you God, for retiring this guy. For all the years we suffered him here in Texas, I must say he reminded me of a charactuer of the old snapping turtle. He walked like one, talked like one, and certainly legislated accordingly. I can only say that his leaving office was second only to BUSH leaving the governor's mansion.
So here's to you, you big nasty.... And after he made a complete fool of himself once again, by calling us all "whiners" suffering "mental recession"....he stepped down. But don't mistake, he DID NOT apologize or take it back. He did not plead a misunderstanding or misinterpretation. He just threw up his manicured hands and almost Nixon like....skulked off. Happy day here!!
About Phil Gramm, courtesy of the late, much mourned Molly Ivins:
When he ran for president in 1996 and finished fifth in Iowa, all the profiles written of him included the line “Even his friends don’t like him.” Self-righteous and strident, Gramm demonized his opponents and used bitter, polarizing rhetoric. During a Senate debate over Social Security, a member pointed out that the proposal under consideration would hurt 80-year-old retirees. “Most people don’t have the luxury of living to be 80 years old,” Gramm scoffed, “so it’s hard for me to feel sorry for them.” Well, there is that."
I think we lost this guy many days too late! Good riddance.

Food Risk Index
We are going to need to add a daily monitor on our homepages to include high/low indices for food quality....kind of like the weather, only we'll have to use an underground, non-profit lab to run the 24/7 testing; since the USDA, FDA, MONSANTO/Navartis/dupont will be continually attempting to stop the broadcasts.
Todays food risk Index =
Ecoli, Salmonella, Campylo, BST, Bacillus t, rBGH, DES, antibiotics
1. Very Low, eat EVERYthing, anywhere you see it
2. Low, eat what you like from only your trusted sources
3. Average, stay home, no restaurants today, not even take out!
4. High, Organic foods only no meats, dairy or eggs of any kind
5. Very High, only raw veggies & nuts, stick to liquids (martinis ok)
6. Extremely high, water only (bottled of course)
I know it sounds crazy, but I remember Daddy bitching back in the early 70's about how someday we'll be paying for good old H2 of O AND even the air we breath. At the time it seemed unreasonable. NOW, I do pay for my ozarka, and crazy enough I have my Dad's electric oxygen concentrator in my garage. Funny thing though, when Dad passed away 3 years ago, I went online to research selling the thing. Then, they were going for $1000+ on ebay. Now, THEY are illegal to sell/or buy without a prescription. WHAT'S THIS? I now need an Rx to get oxygen.
...Dad just did a triple back layout, with a twist, in his urn!
9.8 DAD, you knew it!!!

The Fannie Freddie Fiasco
Someone pinch me, cause I know I just dreamt that the White House plans to finance the FAT MINDED, FAT POCKETED, Fannie and FreddieMac, out of their BILLION dollar slump. Good lord, how have we allowed these bumbling idiots to stay at the helm? Pharmaceuticals have to love this....half of America is running for the medicine cabinet for something to help choke this bitter crap down. But just when you think, wow, they really don't get it....their asking congress to raise the national debt limit which is already at $5trillion. It really does give me a stomach ache. How can we put a stamp of solvency on grossly mismanaged corporate empires effectively giving them back their winter cottages in the Alps, and think that this will CALM the public and inspire confidence in the markets? Is the average American market investor that stupid? Just explain in 2nd grade terms HOW these companies can LEND money to poor risky candidates, then FORECLOSE on these families, then be stuck with tons of devaluing properties, lose the confidence of their own investors, then stand with their manicured palms out to a dirty government for the hand out that struggling (whining) AMERICA will have to pay for......
And I think about Obama and McCain and holy cow .....WHAT big DUMMY WANTS TO INHERIT THIS nasty MONSTER? I think it sounds like Roy Scheider, "Your gonna need a bigger boat!"

They LIE!
I posted last, that the San Antonio utility company predicted 30% increase in the average consumer's bill. Well, mine arrived at over 40% increase!!
I called City Public Service and questioned my extreme bill, and they told me that the numbers were actually closer to 47%. AND there is another 3% increase coming in September. WELL now, THIS DOESN'T ACTUALLY REQUIRE MY COLLEGE MATH learning to figure....that's 50% increase. CAN anyone explain to me how the average "joe" is going to afford this???? We already have our thermosets set at 85 during the day.....ugh, guess we'll be shutting down the A/C....

Oh hell, Mr Gramm I know, I am such a whiny bitch.
I read an article last week that suggested we build a 30 x 30 mile solar grid in West Texas, and that would effectively power the entire state. I think that could easily be subsidized with the 47% increase, dont you? Oh wait, we'd have to get permission from Gulf Oil and Exxon first....

Scary times a'comin...
It may be just me, but things are looking pretty grim. I know, GAS PRICES SUCK, but it's not just that. The added increase in Utilities of 30%, and the rising food prices, on top of the worst flooding in over 500 years in the "staple food" heartland, combined with the loss of rail and river transport up the Mississippi which will force demand side up and prices soaring even higher. Is anyone worried about this, other than myself? I'm actually contemplating buying a liquor store, and wind turbines.
The neighborhood already suspects that I've lost my drivers license, since I bring my Miller home on my bike these days (I refuse to pay the fat gas bastards). I don't care, and my corn and cantaloupes are growing just fine, too. I was thinking about a wind turbine the other day, and I was reminded of the Professor on Gilligan's Island, who peddled his stationary bike and generated enough fuel to run a blender!! I have 3 little energy sources ages 12,11, and 8. We could peddle up a BIG Screen TV I think! Where's the technology for that? Just a thought. OH and PS...I'm still missing my friend Tim.

Massive loss of ONE
Tim Russert... Irreplaceable. Sunday mornings are going to be very empty.
I feel a certain vulnerability now, like there is no one we can trust to watch over us politically. No one we can trust to be sincere, forthright, real, and human. I may end up NOT watching TV at all now. I know it is petty beyond decency, but Chris Matthews, Rush Limbaugh, and Pat Buchanan are all overweight too.....why Tim?

Is this OUR Supreme Court?
Supreme court has ruled over the detainees at Guantanamo, and in their favor.......
Wait a second, OUR Court Supreme actually voted to uphold Habeas Corpus, and the right to not be held without charges? DID THE ZOMBIE POWDER WEAR OFF or what? I'm getting almost giddy with anticipation of...I don't know, INTEGRITY, coming from the highest court in the land. Don't get me wrong I will NEVER forgive them for 2000 election debacle over the Florida Voting Recounts, but I'll be the first in line to let them try to MAKE ME FORGET how truly unlawful this bunch of ragtag icky judges really are. Wow, just think, some of these "enemy combatants" will actually get a chance to show their US Birth Certificates to a court of LAW! Happy Day, and it only took 7 years! Next thing you know their going to launch the IMPEACHMENT ARTICLES, and then Criminally charge Rummy, Dick and that ol' Bush.

Hmm...Vice President.
I know I wouldn't be suitable for the job, since the skeleton in my Democratic closet is that I think Ron Paul hung the friggin moon ( a point which I'm certain causes small dust storms in my Union Father's Urn! I'm sorry, Dad.) But back to the choices...It can NOT be Hillary, she's TOO big for the ticket, she has too much money, and for some of us, her past is just too suspicious. The other obvious contender is John Edwards, but I'm really still very angry at the way he just FELL OUT of the race as if my donations were NOTHING. Joe Biden is really very interesting, and I like that he has such tragedy shoring him up personally, but he isn't magnetic enough. Neither of the women senators & governors mentioned do it for me, HOWEVER I really do like Gov. Sebelius, she reminds me of a High School Principal. I could vote for Chuck Hagel, really I could. I don't care that he's a republican, but I think his party would hire outside help to destroy him if he crossed over...that will never do. So the only potentially viable candidate left that is qualified, dignified, and vetted ad nauseaum is Bill Richardson. And can we not say with all honesty that the new facial hair he sporting these days is muy guapo. si? He's the man. Of course I'm just begging for a grassy knoll event putting a latino and black man up for the BIG job, huh? Whoever, I say Good luck to all of these guys, in fact, this is the craziest time I have ever seen in this country....who knows what may happen next?

Meatless Report
The vegetarian diet is going well. My children are onboard as well. They weren't big meat heads anyway. Mother on the other hand thinks that I'm damaging my children, as well as myself. She BELIEVES that one must have meat to live....hard to believe she was really a child of the great depression. Of course my mom still serves corn and potatoes on the same plate and thinks she balanced the meal. No, don't try to tell mother that corn is a grain not a veggie....she isn't interested in all your blather.
The only other downside to this is that my inlaws have one more claim to support their "Michelle is a nut!" case. Yeah, well say what you want, nuts ARE PROTEIN!
The only thing I really miss sometimes, is a fat juicy Reuben Sandwich....mmm.

Obama
I'm glad he's the nominee. I would strongly urge him to distance himself from Billary. Everytime I think of him running with her as the VP, I keep seeing JFK and LBJ....well, actually I see LBJ standing with one hand raised and his other hand on the bible, beside the grief stricken First Lady....shiver.

Secret Ingredients, my *#@$!!

Well I've decided that the reason home grown vegetables are soooooooo much tastier than store bought is the specially added secret ingredient. Yes, this mysterious little something that will never be added by the agribusinesses and megafarms, can only be found in home gardens and small market gardens.
What is it??? It's SWEAT.
I gardened today before high noon and still deposited at least 1 pint of sweat into the soil as I pruned, weeded, and thinned my darlings. I figure a pint every day or two, is quite a sizable amount, and should obviously by considered when figuring what you used to fertilize your home garden. Interesting enough, there are tons of electrolytes as well as anti microbial found in human sweat. PLUS, the addition of sweat to my garden makes me one helluva recycler, huh. Watch, now none of my friends will want my tomatoes....

I Apologize.
I want to personally apologize to Myanmar and the Junta for our King, I mean President and First Lady. They are the only 2 people left in this country that believe the US Government handled Hurricane Katrina appropriately. The rest of us know, and we are horrified at what has happened to your country, and will be waiting (check books in hand, and MOUTHS SHUT) to help. Of course you should try to keep the generals out of the supply rooms, and you should perhaps think about letting in the Red Cross as well. Just an idea, but a helluva lot better than any advice FEMA will give you....

Why can't Ron Paul win?
I don't get it. Everytime I hear the man speak, whether it is under friendly terms or Fox attack, he sounds brilliant. The things he says, and the demeaner he uses to say it, it's inspiring. He never outright insults anyone, and he never stutters and backpeddles away from the BIG statements he makes. He made Guiliano lose the campaign momentum, by making him look as stupid as he really is, on national television. Ron Paul never gives up either. He's an effing Eveready Bunny! He's the most conservative man in politics, and he actually reads the reports that he's paid to read as a senator. WAIT A MINUTE, a Senator ACTUALLY doing his job? Maybe that's why nobody up there wants him in.....

Wright wrong!
Well, up until the press conference Rev Wright gave yesterday, I was willing to give him point. We are still a racially focused, classist elite society. But I think when he turned on Obama (who he claimed as one of his own,) he lost me. Stating that Obama says what he says to be electable, not because he is sincere, was a HUGE slap in the face.
Shame on you Reverend.
You should NEVER release tidbits like that, it was a violation of trust between a parishner and his pastor. The Reverend looked like he was playing up to the cameras and the attention.
His new title in my book shall be THE DISASTER BASTARD.

No beef pork or chicken about it
In light of the recent slaughter house expose out of california, the one where they were jabbing and powerspraying and otherwise torturing aged dairy cows, too weak to walk to their own execution, I have decided to stop eating tortured animals until we fix the problem. Now, I may actually enjoy a vegetarian life, but I'm not really thinking I'll love it. But I'm not paying a single dime for meat that may be contaminated. Wait, they did recall 60 million tons of it, but oops the kiddos in the lunch programs across the country had already scarfed it down. That is just effed up. I've already emailed the USDA and their 3 Inspectors to complain. I am urging all my friends and all those who don't like salmonella, ecoli, or madcow disease to stop eating it!! Someone tell me again how they tainted the spinach? Is this that tough a job? Shit, I don't want it. Nope, to take the lead of the USDA or the FDA you gotta sleep with some pretty icky agribusiness johns, YUCKO! I guess we just need to start growing local beef and local processors that we can watch ourselves. Hey, wait a second, that sounds like Ron Paul!!! Shhhh.

Shooting
First let me offer my deep sadness, and sympathy to all the families of these kids. It is horrible.
Listening to the posters elaborate on the "why" of this terrible shooting. I am constantly amazed at the lack of insight, and connection. It is almost as if the posters personify the college dynamic. THIS IS the problem. This inability to connect to the undercurrents, and in some cases undertows, of society. These students are no more miserable than most 17-24 year olds. It is difficult to embrace adulthood, especially if you are unimpressed with the ones you've grown up with! Add to this the seductive allure of the media and the instant press, and it screams out 15 MINUTES OF FAME, BABY!!! This is my answer for "why the shootings". But the madness that drives them, that is different.
I suspect that as a society we have been terrorized by the media, right into our rabbit holes. There exists an undercurrent of fearfullness, that we carry with us throughout our day. Is there danger around the corner, nextdoor, in our home? I don't know, but someone did abandon a newborn in a trashcan last night in San Antonio. Someone did bury 2 of their own kids under their house last month. Someone silently took a beautiful girl right out from under her friends nose in Las Vegas, and she hasn't been found (even after they've interviewed the 100 registered sex offenders within a mile of the crime scene....100!!) Someone murdered and burned a pregnant marine. Some rich couple got caught enslaving a young girl, after 2 years. Someone beat to death the mother of his own child, right infront of that child, and he was a cop. Someone tortured and angry, shot all of those beautiful kids at Virginia Tech. All the faces of children on Jaredstory.com were bullied to death by someone. And the list goes on and on and on. Truth or not, it sounds to me like we're getting terrorized by our own media. Reasonably, a 20 year old that IS NOT staying drunk, stoned, or taking aderall for kicks, might see the world as a veritable killing field.
Hey, even my crazy sweet old mother is afraid to let my kids play in the front yard! (A stalker might see them! Drive by shooter! Pedophile, kidnapper, slaver, whatever! And she called me just now to tell me about the shootings, and to lock my door!!!) These reports of violence, cold hearted, cold blooded, heartless, remorseless, are deafening. You can't hear anything else. You have to seriously manipulate your connection to the world news, to filter out the hatred and visciousness. That is if you expect to hear something better. Our college kids have been listening to nothing but this since reaching sentient adulthood. Wow, that's a helluva way to grow up. I think we owe them better.

Ancient Chinese Secret, huh?
Acupuncture? Well, I did it. I finally went to an acupuncturist, after over a year of pain. And it is insane, I'm sure. It is ALL in my head, I'm certain. It is my mind overruling my body, of course. I'm too suggestible, indeed. And I don't care. I think it is simply, strangely effective. My experience doesn't need to be backed by scientific proof anyway.
Now, Don't believe the bits of hype that say it doesn't hurt at all. It was uncomfortable for me. The needles go in without any pain, but when he twists them into position, for me it was like the dentist shots. But quicker.
I went to this highly recommended Chinese doctor when my regular physicians could not help me through painful hips, low back, and lower abdomen. Doctor Ho place needles from my big to up to my knees, and a couple in my right hand. The first night after treatment I was worse than before. He had put these seeded adhesives in my earlobes and told me to pinch them when the pain was extreme. It didn't seem to work (and my lobes feel bruised now.)
The second treatment I had to DRAG myself to, since I was in increased pain AND I just didn't LIKE those needles. But he put the needles in my stomach this time and, that wasn't too bad. Then he twisted them and asked me if I felt anything. I said, "yeah, I feel a needle poking into my belly? What am I suppose to feel?"
He smiled and nodded and said, "you'll know." And a second later I felt this rush of heat and stimulation from my abs down my left hip, bone deep all the way to my knee.
"WOW," I told him. He smiled, and said enthusiastically, "I told you you would know!" I left there feeling better, though I still had low abdominal ache, it was better. I notice around 7 that evening that I was in a good mood for no apparent reason. That night I fell asleep without any meds, even though I still had some aching.
I am sitting here at my computer today, feeling better than I have in over a year. I have gone to a cardio workout class and a yoga class today, and I'm still in a good mood. I haven't had to squeeze my ears today either. All I can say is "WOW" why didn't I do this a year ago?
If you are struggling with pain, while you are waiting to see a specialist, or a physician of any kind to figure out what is wrong with you, consider acupuncture. I can't guarantee that it will work for anyone, but it worked for me. So far so good.

John Edwards, What the #&%*?
The rat bastard left the race without notifying his supporters personally. I think that's pretty crappy business. I would have liked a little email notice from campaign headquarters saying what he's doing. NOT THAT IT ISN'T OBVIOUS ENOUGH. He's dealing for a cabinet or VP spot. I say he's going for VP, and he's not turning in an endorsement because he wants A JOB no matter which of the other two wins. Smart I guess, but it still pisses me off.

Pelosi Squatting in Office
Squatting is the best I can call it. WHO does Nancy Pelosi think she's kidding? SHE does absolutely nothing for the people she vowed to represent. An Economic Stimulus package that DENIES basic support for the poor? That fixes nothing, and won't take affect until June?? What a byotch! This from the same mouth that said "Impeachment is off the table!" I say, "Shut up lazy loser!" You have no spine. You should spend as much time in the confessional as you do in the mirror. You sold out your state, and now your screwing the nation. What a disappointment. And while I'm waxing politica, does anyone else see the irony of BILL CLINTON the first black white president, bashing OBAMA the first black white candidate? Priceless, yes?

Israel SMIRKs Iran!
I would like to know why our country refuses to stand down and behave in the middle east. I would like to understand what authority we claim when we DEMAND things of these middle eastern countries. I would like to understand HOW legally we can invade these countries. I would like to know where the WMD are now. I would like to know WHO in the world trusts US Intelligence or the US Executive branch, after everything they've bungled so far. These are the facts as I know them......
Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), a country has the right to enrich its own fuel for civil nuclear power, under inspection from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran says it is simply doing what it is allowed to do. It argues that it needs nuclear power and wants to control the whole process itself. It says it will not break its obligations under the NPT and will not use the technology to make a nuclear bomb.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly stressed that Iran will not yield to international pressure, and he has denounced the US as "tyrannical".
"The Iranian nation will not succumb to bullying, invasion and the violation of its rights," he has said.

I may be crazy, but this sounds more reasonable than ANYTHING that Bush has pontificated about at his obnoxious press conferences. I think Israel is desperate to put Iran out of nuclear business, JUST IN CASE. I think that they need US assistance, and know that they will get it from the war mongers post haste.
I have a problem with this. I also am worried that if we take military action in Iran, that Bush can declare a state of National emergency and delay the 2008 election. I don't think this has ever been done before, but then, the supreme court never threw out National election ballots before Bush either. Buckle up, with Smirk and crew ANYTHING can happen.
Heartless
I am truly heartless. I got a call from my 21 year old niece, asking me what I had done to her grandmother ( yep, mother is up to her tricks again!) Well, I hadn't had a note worthy disagreement with mother, except...she did come by a couple of days ago to ask me to go on the internet and pay an overdue bill for her. I said sure, so she handed me her discover card, and a bill. Problem was it was her Discover bill!! Apparently she wasn't buying my explanation that you can not pay your credit card bill using the said credit card. She got a little frustrated BECAUSE said she, "You have done this for me before! Why are you not going to do it now?"
It is laughable, isn't it. That I sit here in my chaotic child infested, dog run, staring wild eyed at a semi NUT, thinking if I get upset, she'll start crying, if I laugh, she'll get angry, if I walk away, she'll follow. But I chose the middle ground. I smiled patiently and said, "Mother, write a check for it. Send it late, it's OK. LOOK! I have a stamp right here!" The little bit of enthusiasm at the end seemed to do the trick, and she wrote her check, and used the little stamp, and was on her merry, fuzzy way. APPARENTLY, that was just my take, since she proceeded home to call my sister (350 miles away) and weep over my calloused nature, and how I'd hurt her feelings. Wait, I'm betting she used the "she cut me to the core" comment, (it comes with a hand on the chest and a side back tilt of the head, eyes closed of course. She does that so well you can almost see blood dripping from under her hand down the front of her duster. (By the way, she wears one, ugly with snaps down the front... but I NEVER see her dust.)
So anyway, I tell my niece that perhaps I missed something and that I'd find out and call her back. Not mentioning how cowardly of my sister not to have called me herself. So, I called mom, on the pretense of inviting her to my youngest child's first reconciliation. For those non catholics, that is the first time you get to confess all of your sins to a priest. Yessssssir...Big stuff. She was delighted (as I knew she would be) and wrote it down on her St. Anthony's pocket calendar. Then she asked me for directions to the local French restaurant, and I looked it up for her, and told her how to get there. And well, it was just a pleasant little chat. Ok, talk to you later!
I called my niece back the moment I hung up. "Looks like the joke is on Sissy!!!" I say, "Mom doesn't even remember she's mad at me!! Nah nana nana nah!" Of course, now I get to take my mother to a reconciliation Event, and listen to her tell me how special it all is, for the gazillionth time. So why exactly I'm doing the booty dance, I can't say. Someday. Someday she's going to find out that I'm really a Quaker, and then I don't even know what kind of catholic mother guilt she's going to broadside me with. I'm sure she knows all about self flagellation. Shiver...

Shiver...

Bride of the Antichrist?
Ann Icky Coulter is!!! In Godless, Ann Coulter criticized the four 9/11 widows known as the "Jersey Girls, writing:
These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them. ... I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much ... the Democrat ratpack gals endorsed John Kerry for president ... cutting campaign commercials... how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."[81]
These statements received national attention after an interview on The Today Show, and were widely criticized.[82][83][dead link][84][85][dead link][86][87] Coulter refused to apologize, and responded, "I feel sorry for all the widows of 9/11...[but] I do not believe that sanctifies their political message....They have attacked Bush, they have attacked Condoleezza Rice, they're cutting campaign commercials for Kerry. But we can't respond because their husbands died . . . I think it's one of the ugliest things the left has done...this idea that you need some sort of personal authenticity in order to make a political point..."[88][89]

Comatosa recipe
We celebrated New Years Eve in our newest tradition, in bed by 10pm. Ever so slightly stirred by the sound of bottle rockets at midnight. Mmm, or is it zzzzzzzooogood. New Years Day was new, however, since I had champagne but no orange juice for my traditional Mimosa. So this year I polished off my spumanti with a new creation. I call this pretty thing the
It can be stirred, shaken, or gargled and re poured for all you will care. By 5pm all you need is for your spouse, (or any other responsible adult) to come find you and administer a shot of atropine into the chest of your prone body. I think I should hang the syringe around the champagne glass like a wine marker...just to be safe. Isn't THAT drinking responsibly! HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!
